James Update

We are in the studio, making a music record. I am playing guitar on it. Nick is playing guitar on it. Yesterday we did our guitar parts for a song temporarily titled "the Rock Opus". I thought it would be fun to tell you guys about my experience while recording this particular song. We have been going crazy, with the sounds on this song....and we are trying to make it as fun as possible, for your listening pressure. That being said....I used a total of 5 different guitars on that song!!! We were using guitars in different tunings, and varied pick-up settings. It was crazy. One of the guitars was this Japanese electric from the 50's, that Pete (Kipley, our producer) bought while out on tour with us. He paid the store owner 100 bucks for it, and we walked out of the door with it. He carried it with him to dinner, a couple blocks up the street, at Chili's. Anyway, I used it for the second verse of this song I was telling you about. I was pretty frazzled after tracking all day long, so I went home after I was done. I heard Nick's parts this morning.......and they rule too! Thanks everybody, your support means the world to us!

Week #1

So we have finished our first official week of recording!

Things are going very well. We are making a wild mixture of musical sounds inside the Oregon studio we have been in for the last week.

My week got off to a rough start after arriving at the airport in Portland, OR this last Sunday. While watching our 11 bags begin to circle out on the luggage carousel at the baggage claim for several minutes after our arrival, i began to notice that all the other guys were getting their bags all in order, with all their contents in tact, etc. Sounds routine enough, until about 10 minutes later when all our bags have arrived and mine still has not. Now remember, i am the only member of the band that doesn’t live in the Portland area. Therefore, every article of clothing in my bag is very precious to me on this trip.

To make a long story short, my bag never arrived at the airport and to this day they still haven’t found it..... So, the first couple of day’s in the studio were rather rough (and stinky) for me. But, God is good and the airline is now going to be helping me get some new clothes to take the place of my dear old garments that are now lost forever : (

WOW, enough of my sob stories, how about a new Kutless record?!?! It’s on it’s way, and I am pretty sure you are all going to be very happy with the way it sounds.... 1 week in, and we are already seeing God move in this record in so many ways, thank you all once again for all the prayers and support. We will continue to keep you posted!
